blogger-vs-wordpressSo I’ve traveled back to the writers seat again … and I’m LOVING in! But I’m having a hard time with the whole blogging world. Well my blogging world that is.

A few months back I got this website up and running and decided to devote all my fun loving writer words to that blog and that blog only, but my writer words miss my Poppins blog as well. And unfortunately most of my visitors go to that blog, which in turn means less comments and not nearly enough advice on this one. So I’m not sure what to do!

(Oh listen to me whining like a little girl … well in all retrospect, I am a “little” girl…so it’s totally ok!)

Part of me wonders if it is because that blog is on WordPress and this one is on Blogger. I myself must admit it is MUCH easier to follow a blog on Blogger. I just head over to my dashboard and scroll through all my favorite bloggers (which by the way I have way too many because you all freaking rock!) and click in and out of each blog. WordPress isn’t that easy. With word press you have to click on the RSS feed to know when I update or watch through my fan page and/or this blog for posts that I’ve updated. That’s really quite a bit of work.

So do you visit many WordPress sites? Do you own a WordPress site? How do you keep your followers updated? Does anyone else have this frustration? Any advice? Should I just double post and bring my writing posts back to my Poppins world as well? Have I asked enough questions yet? Would you like me to ask a few more? Are you sick of my questions? Do you know why the sky is blue? Did I tell you I can totally make a website in WordPress?

  1. I keep all the blogs that I follow on google reader and it lets me know when there is a new post. I didn’t have your other blog on my reader but I just added it. I am not sure it is the difference between blogger and wordpress as much as just the difference between content on the two. You may just have two separate groups of followers on each blog.

  2. Marybeth,
This is my first visit but it won’t be my last. I have the same problem as you do, I am never sure just where to blog. I guess I can get excited about writing anywhere about anything, but then get hung up on where I get the most traffic, and then I don’t care and I just want to write and enjoy and let the chips fall where they may. I use blogger, but have heard that wordpress gets more traffic, now why would that be anyways?

  3. I’ve never been able to quite figure out how to get the best of both words, either. I don’t think it’s the difference between blogger and WordPress, though. All of my blogs are self-hosted on WordPress, but I get the most visitors to my writing and book blog – maybe it’s because that’s the one I use when I’m commenting! I add all feeds to Google Reader, so it doesn’t matter to me what blogging platform a blog uses.

Of course, there’s the small point that I post the most often at my writing and book blog, and far less frequently at my food blog or my personal blog!

  4. It doesn’t matter to me what format a blog is in. I add them all on my reading list on my blogger dashboard. But I do think a lot of people use google friend connect and wordpress doesn’t work with that. If I were you I think I’d just double post. That way you get the followers of both blogs to read the post. The sky is blue when the sun is high because molecules in the air scatter blue light more than other colors. At sunrise and sunset they scatter other colors (because of the angle we are viewing the sun) and thats why the sky looks red or orange 🙂
